2 Day Jointed Teddy Bear Workshop - Walford Mill, Wimborne

The two day workshop takes you through the construction of a five-jointed 24cm tall teddy bear.  The cost includes synthetic plush fabric and stuffing and all the joints, eyes and threads required to complete your bear.  You will get a printed pattern and instructions to take away.

Bears were traditionally made with mohair fabric, a soft, textured and natural fabric.  Unfortunately its also quite expensive.  I will have a selection of mohair fabric available for you to use for your bear if you prefer but there will be an additional charge of £10 if you'd like to purchase a piece.  You can make a beautiful bear from the fabric supplied with your course - so no pressure!

During the days I'll take you through different types of materials used in teddy bear making and the different methods of making up bears.  We'll look at how different fabrics add texture and personality to your bear and how altering the stuffings and fabrics can give different feels and looks.  I'll discuss hand sewing and machine sewing and give tips along the way to personalise your bear.  There will be sewing machines available to use if you want to machine sew.

This is a relaxed workshop, and you'll be supported whatever your experience or skills are.   Most people finish their bear in the two days, but if you don't, you'll have learned all the necessary techniques to be able to finish it at home.  I'm always happy to help afterwards if you get stuck.

You are welcome to bring your own materials if you prefer.

Walford Mill is a beautiful setting and there is plenty of parking (not free unfortunately) nearby.  There is a lovely cafe on site for refreshments during the day.
